The Ultimate Fail

Welcome back it’s term 2 and I’m ready for a lot more learning.  In Te Ngahere we have been learning about following instructions.  We were given a piece of paper with 23 directions.  The purpose of this test was to help us follow instructions carefully.  We had four minutes to complete the test.

The first instruction said: read everything carefully before doing anything.  I read everything but when I got to the last instruction I was a bit confused, it said: Now you have finished reading everything carefully, do only sentences one and two!  Then draw quietly on the back of this paper while you wait for everyone else to finish!  I was a bit confused so I moved back to the start to follow each instruction.  When we came back down to the mat to discuss we all realised our mistake.  I saw it as my ultimate fail.  What I could have done better was read the instructions more carefully.  It felt a bit funny to have everyone do something wrong and then we all laughed about it.  From now on I will try to read the instructions more carefully.    Do you follow instructions carefully?

  1. Hello Jacob, my name is Angela from Te Ngahere. I like your blog post about “The Ultimate Fail” because it was very interesting and you explained everything very clearly of what you and your class did. When I was scrolling through people’s blog’s, your title caught my eye and I wanted to read more and more. My answer to your question is: I don't always follow instructions or read everything carefully because sometimes there are a lot of steps and I cannot be bothered reading every single one of them. What was the easiest part of the test for you?
    Bye bye!

  4. Hi Jacob my name is Te Hauata i’m a year 6 I like your blog post about the ultimate fail. The reason I liked your blog post was because it told me what you went through and how confused you were. It really showed me how dumb you felt when you noticed the mistake you made and if it makes you feel better I felt really dumb at that moment too. Did you have fun on the test?
